Sockeye Salmon Home
Alaska Gulkana River
Sockeye Salmon fishing
The Gulkana River King
salmon season runs from June 1st to July 19th. The Sockeye run
starts the same time as the King and continues until September 15th,
however the prime sockeye run usually begins about the 2nd week in
August. We will be keeping the park open
until August 30th in 2012, including access to fresh water and septic.
We are always working on ways to offer you the best Alaska fishing
experiences. You will be able to fish
for Sockeye, rainbow trout, and graylings. We no longer offer
Sockeye Salmon trips to allow our lifetime permit holders private access
to our shoreline.
Starting
in 2012, only lifetime permit holders and the owners will have access to
the park after July 20th.

Huge runs of
Copper River Sockeye pass by our park and hold up in several holes along
our 750 ft. of shoreline. Our
King Salmon guided fishing trips also include a 2 night stay in the park,
giving you plenty of time to bank fish for Sockeye Salmon.
Fishing for all other species is
allowed through the summer making it the best fishing trip in Alaska.
A good day on the Gulkana River for Sockeye
Salmon.

Sourdough Joe is a local fishing
expert and renowned for his hand tied flies. He is often
in our park and is always quick to
help or offer advice. Don't miss the chance to talk to Joe
if you come up for a trip or 7 day stay. He is a wealth of
information on the local fishing.
