Alaska Sockeye Salmon
fishing on the Gulkana River
The Gulkana River King
salmon season runs from June 1st to July 19th. The Sockeye run
starts the same time as the King and continues until September 15th,
however the prime sockeye run usually begins about the 2nd week in
August. After July 19th, our Sockeye
Salmon trips leave from our park and you are returned to the park at the
end of the trip. For Gulkana River guided trips, we charge a very reasonable $195 per person,
two person minimum. Our trips include fishing gear, bait, bottled
drinking water, and an ice chest. You need to supply your own
food, drinks, and waders. Due to the fact that our dump
station and water tank are closed after July 19th, no camping will be
allowed on the park during the sockeye season. The guide will make
arrangements to take you into and out of the park.
Park Hosts Needed

Huge runs of
Copper River Sockeye pass by our park and hold up in several holes along
our 750 ft. of shoreline. You can catch them directly from our banks
while our park is open from June 1st until July 19th. Our
King Salmon guided fishing trips also include a 2 night stay in the park
giving you plenty of time to bank fish for Sockeye Salmon. You
should also consider our
7 day
park permit that includes a river front camping/RV space for 4
people.
Fishing for all other species is
allowed through the summer making it the best fishing trip in Alaska.
A good day on the Gulkana River for Sockeye
Salmon.
